CARA KERJA DARI CATU DAYA

CATU DAYA merupakan pemberi sumber daya bagi perangkat elektronika. Perangkat elektronika mestinya dicatu oleh power supply arus searah DC (direct current) yang stabil agar dapat dengan baik. Baterai atau accu adalah sumber catu daya DC yang paling baik. Namun untuk aplikasi yang membutuhkan catu daya lebih besar, sumber dari baterai tidak cukup. Sumber catu daya yang besar adalah sumber bolak-balik AC (alternating current) dari pembangkit tenaga listrik. Untuk itu diperlukan suatu perangkat catu daya yang dapat mengubah arus AC menjadi DC. Pada tulisan kali ini disajikan prinsip rangkaian catu daya (power supply) yang memiliki keluaran atau out put variable, +5volt, -5 volt, +12 volt, -12 volt,  yang terdiri dari komponen vital yang utama diode bridge, regulator 78xx., regulator 79xx, variable 317, variable 337, TIP 3055.

Saya akan menjelaskan prinsip kerja dari Catu Daya yang kami buat ini. Prinsip penyearah (rectifier) yang paling sederhana ditunjukkan pada gambar dibawah berikut ini. Transformator diperlukan untuk menurunkan tegangan AC dari jala-jala listrik pada kumparan primernya menjadi tegangan AC yang lebih kecil pada kumparan sekundernya. Kemudian setelah dikeluarkan oleh kumparan skunder menjadi arus listrik yang sangat kecil barulah arus listrik AC tersebut masuk ke komponen diode bridge untuk di searahkan. Tidak cukup disearahkan arus AC tersebut belum sempurna menjadi arus DC lalu di saring lagi oleh komponen Elco ( electrolit condensator ) untuk di perkecil lagi arus listrik AC tersebut. Kapasitor disini memiliki peraan penting dalam menjaga kesetabilan arus listrik AC yang masuk ke rangkaian untuk itu jika kita dapatkan kapasitor atau Elco dalam kondisi yang tidak layak pakai, maka akan mempengaruhi\cara kerja komponen yang lainnya dikarenakan arus listrik AC yang melewati kapsitor tidak dapat tertahan atau disimpan olehnya.

Setelah melewati kapasitor arus ini akan masuk ke transistor TIP untuk mengarahkan arus tersebut ke  IC regulator yang akan menstabilkan arus menjadi tegangan dan  nantinya  IC inilah yang akan menentukan arus yang masuk ingin dijadikan out put keluaran positif (+) atau negative (-). Dengan kata lain arus listrik yang sebelumnya masuk berupa arus listrik AC setelah melewati komponen komponen yang ada pada rangkaian catu daya tersebut berubah menjadi arus  listrik DC dengan keluaran yang sudah ditentukan dan nantinya dapat diaplikasikan pada alat elektronika lainnya.
